Overview of South Africa's Cultural Heritage South Africa is located at the southernmost tip of the African continent and is bordered by Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini (previously known as Swaziland), and in its entirety, surrounds Lesotho.   It is characterised by widely varying landscapes and consists of a diverse population with colourful traditions and customs.
